As of January 12, 2024, when is form 15400 due?
The deadline for submitting required information to the IRS for vehicles placed in service in 2023 has been extended to January 31, 2024.
For vehicles sold between Jan 1, 2024 – Jan 16, 2024, the deadline is January 19, 2024.
How do I submit my EV credit information to the IRS?
Reports can be emailed in an Excel spreadsheet or through individual Form 15400 submissions to IRS.Clean.Vehicles.Seller.Reporting@IRS.gov.
Ensure the email does not include sensitive information in the subject line or body. For security, encrypt and password-protect any documents using common formats like Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat (PDF), or image formats. What are the guidelines for 2024 Seller Reports and the recent extension?
Seller reports for new or used qualified clean vehicles in 2024 should be provided to customers at the time of sale and submitted to the IRS within three days. Due to technical glitches, the deadline for sales between January 1 and 16 has been extended to January 19.
What are the reporting requirements for sellers of new clean vehicles and dealers of used clean vehicles?
To be eligible for credits under IRC 30D and 25E, sellers must provide reports to buyers and the IRS at the time of sale. This applies to manufacturers selling directly to customers and dealers licensed by states, the District of Columbia, Indian tribal governments, or Alaska Native Corporations.
